Scratch built Blade Guard Captain for my Cha*Cough* Dark Angels r/Warhammer40k
new to 40k, and blade guard vets are cool af. I plan on fielding 10 models split into 2 units. Thinking about using a primaris captain and a blade guard ancient as buffs for the 2 squads for contesting midfield objectives with decent terrain around. so here's the questions:

1x Captain (the shield/sword one from Indomitus) 1x Primaris Apothecary (hero of the chapter: Selfless healer to double heal) 1x Impulsor with shield dome This is 400pts, but the Blade guard are 2+/4++, can be healed or resurrected by the apothecary and have a large threat range due to the transport, which sports a 4++

So the Indomitus shields—which are going to be the standard size for all blade guard going forward—are about 6.5mm bigger than the current size.

Yes, the Indomitus Lt is probably the best build but he is still 90 points. For 5 points more you can get the Primaris Captain with MCPS who has +1W, +1A and +1Ld. Granted he has a 3+/4++ save rather than a 2+/4++ save but that is only relevant against Ap-0 and and AP-1 attacks.

Last consideration for me given my list is that I typically use a jump captain and aggressors for deepstrike, and the blade guard vets will likely be a counterpunch element emerging from my "main" group, augmented by a canticle of hate bonus to help them assure their charge. Matching them up with a judiciar for that role seems highly effective.
